Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields return to get us ready for summer!
As a last, and very splendid, hurrrah, members of the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields have generously planted new bulbs; and they have weeded the ground and laid new bark. This means that the children will have a wonderful summer in the Nature area, picnicking and playing.
The Rotary Club story:
Last year the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields and the Rotaract Club of Ealing planted 106 redwood saplings, interspersed with daffodil bulbs, in our Nature Area. They also planted up 8 tubs with bulbs. They then returned to move some huge logs, employing an ingenious method of rolling to heave them all into place. They also tidied rubbish and did further work on the planting.
They then raised the magnificent sum of £630 and bought us two sturdy picnic benches, accessible for all the children, including those using wheelchairs. A few members returned to present the Log Cabin with a cheque for £150 and to celebrate their work on the project with strawberries and cream and shortbread, made by Janet Bettacini. Helen Johnson, Chair of Trustees, and Vivien Dymock, Fundraising Manager, were lucky enough to share in the goodies.
We are very grateful indeed to the Rotary Club of Hanwell and Northfields and to the Rotaract Club of Ealing for all their sterling work, their determination and their generosity.
